The Erebuni Museum was founded in 1968. The opening of the museum coincided with the 2750th anniversary of Yerevan. The museum stands at the foot of Arin Berd hill, on the top of which stands the Urartian Erebuni fortress. From 782. The city-fortress was excavated, some parts of the structure were fortified and restored, and the fortress was turned into an open-air museum.
The cuneiform inscription testifies that the city was built by King Argishti I of Urartu in BC. In the year 782. Most of the fortress was built of raw brick. The citadel was surrounded in some places by strong walls built in three rows. The temple of the Khaldi god is very important in Berd. The walls of the temple were decorated with many frescoes.
